Community Iftar Dinner

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

We would like to invite you to be part of our Burwood Girls High School Annual Community Iftar Dinner, to be held at the school on Wednesday 29th March from 6:15pm - 8:30pm.

As a school we like to acknowledge the beliefs of many of our students and as Ramadan is a special month for the Muslim community our Iftar dinner is a way of supporting those students who celebrate it. We extend the invitation for our Iftar dinner to the entire school community inviting all students, staff and their families to join us to break our fast. It is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together to learn more about the Islamic faith, to build understanding and to enjoy some amazing food together.

As Burwood GHS is such a multicultural school and our Muslim students come from many different backgrounds, the evening is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to try foods from many cultural regions. Each year the school makes and provides the soup, the dates and the water. This year we have asked the staff to donate the desserts and we are asking everyone else joining us to bring along a dish to share. Please keep in mind that any meat used needs to be Halal and no alcohol should be used in any dishes.
