Uniform
When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community. Learn about our uniform and where to buy it.
Our uniform policy
Burwood Girls High School is a ‘uniform school’ where students are expected to be in full school uniform every day. Our uniform is designed to be functional and distinctive. We believe that wearing your school uniform helps to promote unity and equality whilst also fostering a sense of belonging.
Whilst we welcome and encourage self-expression, we also believe that wearing a uniform instills discipline and responsibility for one's learning. Uniforms can simplify your morning routine by eliminating the decision on what to wear, and can be more economical for parents.
Certainly not least importantly, wearing a uniform is pertinent to our students' safety. Uniforms make our students easier to distinguish from other people, improving security by making outsiders more visible on school grounds and by making our students identifiable off of school grounds. Appropriate school shoes, in particular, are vital to ensuring your safety in certain learning environments (science labs, woodworking, cooking, gardening, sport).
If there are issues concerning school uniform, the Head Teacher of Wellbeing, Ms. Voulla Kalogeropoulos, may make the necessary arrangements.
