Student leadership

Burwood Girls High School offers many leadership opportunities for students.

These currently include:

  • Prefects
  • Sports house captains
  • Student Representative Council (SRC)
  • Big Siblings
  • Tiddas
    • Tiddas is an Australian Aboriginal word used in Northern Australia meaning sisters. Our Tiddas group is comprised of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their peers. Our mission is to promote Indigenous culture and cultural literacy amongst the students at Burwood GHS. We also provide opportunities for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to participate in cultural activities in and outside of school.
  • Environment Committee
    • A vibrant group run by enthusiastic students from all year levels. The group organise and facilitate many projects, including paper recycling, the worm farm and school vegetable garden, as well as working with a number of experts on a whole school waste management audit. This year the Environment Committee aims to increase awareness of the impacts of drought and continue raising funds for Rural Aid.
  • Acts of Inclusion
    • A group of students interested in promoting inclusion of people with and without disabilities at Burwood GHS and the wider community through peer activities and the creation of promotional material such as short films.
  • True Colours
    • A group of students interested in supporting the LGBTI+ community. As well as creating a safe space, senior students organise school events such as Wear It Purple and IDAHOBIT.
  • Crescent Girls
  • Sisters in Society
  • Futures Learning
